Our writing program ensures students have a firm foundation for structural writing and covers narrative writing, informational writing, and expository writing. Our certified teachers start from the ground up to make sure students have a solid understanding of the structure of a written response. Once this structure is in place, our teachers then move the students beyond the gaps and extend learning.

Elementary School

Elementary school is the perfect time to address learning gaps before they get out of hand, and an even better time to get ahead of expectations while teachers are still covering the basics.

Our writing program for young students focuses on the development of language skills such as parts of speech and sentence structure, along with building the foundation for structured writing.

  • Narrative Writing
  • Summative Writing
  • General Essay Writing
  • Writing Composition & Structure
  • Comprehension
  • Comparing & Contrasting
  • Identifying the Main Idea
  • Letter Writing
  • Author's Purpose
  • Opinion Writing
  • Persuasive Writing
  • Informative Writing
  • Sentence Structure
  • Parts of Speach
  • Paragraph Structure
  • Phonics & Tense
  • Vocabulary & Context Clues
  • Point-of-View

Middle School

Middle school begins to cover a vast array of skills related to the English language. These include more complex clause usage (which also requires a more in-depth knowledge of the parts of speech), sentence diagramming, and more sophisticated sentence structure. Spelling is more heavily weighed, and grammar and mechanics are expected to be more intact.

Written passages are longer, structurally-sound, and enriched with details and enough figurative language to make writing both interesting and accurate.

Our writing programs teach students to:

  • Write short, text-based constructed responses utilizing various strategies for writing
  • Practice a variety of brainstorming and pre-writing techniques
  • Establish and maintain a tone appropriate to the writing task
  • Write a cohesive essay utilizing strategies for various modes of discourse including narrative writing, informational and expository writing, and argumentative writing
  • Cite clear and relevant textual evidence
  • Acquire strategies for successful introductions and conclusions
  • Respond to creative writing prompts

High School

High school students should be able to apply themes from texts and utilize textual evidence in discussion-based questions. Writing should accurately convey intention and reasoning within a well-structured and highly-interesting piece of work.

Our certified high school teachers help students maximize the impact of their literary works by reinforcing the effective use of rhetoric, emphasizing the importance of well-chosen words, and encouraging students to get creative while they meet the criteria set forth in each assignment.

Message from the CEO

Hello Bridging Gap USA (BGAP) Families!

We welcome back all our students for learning.

Bridging Gap USA (BGAP) values the safety of our students, teachers, staff and our parents, and that’s paramount — no exception.

As we strive to reopen our center for learning, we are making every effort to bring back our in-person classes as safely as possible — along with the option of virtual learning. We have always maintained a high level of cleanliness and sanitation, but now we’re going above and beyond to implement stricter standards.

New center policies include:

  • Maintaining more than 6-7ft distance between students and teachers
  • Sanitizing and disinfecting after every class
  • All teachers, students, and staff will be required to wear masks at all times in the center
  • Any child who shows signs of illness (or lives with others who show signs of illness) should refrain from coming to the center.
  • Hand washing before and after the class
  • Checking temperature of staff upon entering

This policy change will help us continue to meet the needs of our students while also keeping them safe. Bridging Gap USA (BGAP) is here to serve, and we’re so excited to be able to see our students continue their learning despite the difficulties being thrown at them during this trying time.

Together, we “Prepare Today…Succeed Tomorrow!”
