WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE DIGITAL SAT

Digital SAT is almost here, and we couldn't be more excited to see what the future holds for this new technology.

What does this new digital SAT look like?

SAT will be offered digitally in the USA starting March of 2024. The transition from paper to digital is expected to happen gradually, with the PSAT being administered digitally starting in Fall of 2023

The new digital SAT will be a more flexible test, easier to take and easier to give. It’ll be more secure and relevant.

The Digital SAT will have a multistage adaptive testing (MST) system, which means that questions will be selected based on the student's performance on previous questions. This ensures that students receive only the questions appropriate to their level of skill and knowledge.

What is NOT changing on Digital SAT?

Digital SAT will continue to measure the knowledge and skills students are learning in high school. So, students can still count on it to provide the same standardized measure of college readiness as always.

The Digital SAT will be scored on a 1600-point scale, keeping with the current scoring system used for the paper test.

The Digital SAT will be taken at school or a test center, not at home. It will be administered in the same way as the current paper-based SAT, except that students will use a computer instead of a pencil and paper

Digital SAT will continue to connect students to scholarship opportunities.

What is new?

• Students will take the test on a laptop or tablet.
• Test will be shorter. It’ll be 2 hours and 14 minutes total instead on 3 hours.
• Reading passages will be shorter.
• Math questions will be less wordy, and students will be able to use calculator on the entire test.
• Score will be delivered in days instead of weeks.

What do you need to know?

The new Digital SAT Test will be divided into two modules: Reading and Writing, and Math. Each of these sections will last for 70 minutes with 44 questions in the Math section and 54 questions in the Reading and Writing sections.

In each module, students can go back and forth between questions before time runs out.

The first module will contain a mix of easy, medium, and hard questions. The second module will be more difficult or less difficult, depending on how students perform on the first module.
